I usually post my weekly bucket list stories when it’s Sunday, when everyone’s at a certain peaceful pause. For some reason, I seem to think that everyone would be able to have the time to read my simple weekly activities because it’s Sunday! It’s everyone’s rest day! Well, almost that is! It’s that wonderful time when people sit down with their friends and families and relax, hang out or talk about everything (which I sort of wish includes my stories and blog posts). So why did I miss posting this weekly bucket list story you may ask? Well, it was one busy fashion weekend for me! Which will be in a different story and blog post that I can’t wait to share! Anyway, here’s week 3/52 for you!
#1: Eat Calamansi Cheesecake at Starbucks.
When I first saw @StarbucksPH‘s Instagram post about their new Calamansi Cheesecake, I was so thrilled! I’m all about kumquats and cheesecakes! I love the sour and refreshing taste of fresh calamansi and always order it and look for it in almost every restaurant I dine in. Like, seriously! And cheesecake? Well, it’s cheesecake. They’re heaven in a bite. Need I say more? And to have both calamansi and cheesecake in one undeniably delicious bite just somehow means the world to me!
Have you tried it? If you haven’t, I tell you, you should!
#2: Meet Up With Nitish
With our very busy and ever conflicting schedules, my former debate/adjudicator partner and mentor and best friend Nitish and I (now that’s what you call an excessive use of “and” in one sentence! Ha!) could never find the time to see each other and catch up. So last week, I decided that we finally should! Nitish is really one of those “constants” as people would say, in my life. I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for all his encouragement. (Nitz, is that sentence enough already? Lol! Just kidding!) He’s been there pushing me to be better every single day, not just in adjudicating debates before but also in pushing for my dreams in life, like blogging!
The perfect place to meet was in Dulce Vida and I’ll tell you why with my third task on this weekly bucket list! I was craving for beef so I ordered Osso Buco, one of my all-time favorite dishes. What I love about the Tiny Kitchen and Dulce Vida’s menu is that all the beef, chicken and fish dishes are organized in their respective categories. They make ordering your favorites less confusing. And let me tell you, I thoroughly enjoyed my Osso Buco there and was sad to find that there was nothing left on my plate! It was definitely a lunch to remember with an awesome friend.
#3: (YES THIS IS CONNECTED TO #2) Eat Oreo Cheesecake!
Dulce Vida is known here in Davao City for its tastefully created cakes and pastries. There’s no wonder why people come here to purchase the best pasalubongs from their trip to Davao for their families. Aside from their Frozen Mango Brazo (which is my favorite too), Red Velvet Cake and Chocolate Mousse, I couldn’t keep my mouth away from their awesome Oreo Cheesecake. Again, I love cheesecakes, and the sweetness from the Oreo and the little bit of sour taste from the cheesecake will always be a combination my heart (and my mouth – like I haven’t mentioned it already) comes running to. YUUUMM!
#4: Celebrate Dad’s Birthday With A bang!
My dad turns 60 this year and we all can’t help but be excited to celebrate his special day with him. 60 is such a huge milestone and reaching that age is a blessing that cannot be denied. My mom left me in charge on what to do and where to celebrate his birthday. Knowing my dad, he’s a very simple guy. So going for an extravagant celebration is something that I believe isn’t suitable with his interests. And because of that realization, I chose a special place where we could all have dinner, where my siblings and I used to dine and play back when we were as tiny as can be, at Jack’s Ridge Resort and Restaurant.
This place just brings back so many memories. And the view from Jack’s Ridge Taklobo Restaurant, where we dined, is spectacular! My dad was so happy to be there and was so excited about the custom-made cake from Joniels just for him.
It was truly a happy and bangin’ 60th birthday celebration! To more birthdays to come dad! I love you!
#5: Enjoy The View Of Davao City At Night.
Working in a hotel as a Lifestyle Executive means knowing where the best places to go to in Davao City. And when I get asked by couples where they could dine in Davao that has a romantic ambiance, one of the places I would recommend is Jack’s Ridge Taklobo Restaurant. Imagine dining at night with a breathtaking view of Davao City. The city lights, the food and the music are just among the few things that make this place really special. And finally, after so long, I get to enjoy this place myself! Now isn’t that such a beautiful view?
I hope you enjoyed this edition of Tori’s Weekly Bucket List. I promise I won’t be late in posting next time!
