Summer Hangover

POTATO The month of June has ended but not the rainy season. And yet here I am still filling up my blog with summer #OOTDs and summer photographs. It most certainly cannot be helped considering we live in a tropical country! No matter how long the rainy season drags on, the beautiful beaches will still remain and the sandy shores of Samal Island will always be a place to be reckoned with! For this summer #OOTD, I wanted to show you guys another way to dress the part. Maxi skirts and dresses, shorts, rompers, palazzo or harem pants are some of our most loved pieces when we’re out by the pool or the beach. But who says denim on denim looks can’t have their time in the sun too? This chambray skirt from Forever 21 was the perfect match for a denim jacket. I threw in some of the usual summer colors: a floral blue bikini that I used as a cropped top and white strapped sandals for a really cool tropical effect. I also wore my favourite navy blue cap and brought this colourful Vera Bradley sling bag with me for a pop of personality! And if I may say so, the Vera Bradley sling bag is really one of the best sling bags that exist in this world! I mean, it’s really small but the compartments of this bag are so well-thought of and were really put in the right places. I can fit so much stuff in it including my summer essentials like my sunglasses and sunscreen! I really enjoyed my time in the sun with this #OOTD. Sometimes the...

Photo Diary: Leticia By the Sea

POTATO It’s Thursday once again and here’s my #throwback blog post – slash – photo diary to when my colleagues and I spent a wonderful day just almost three weeks ago at Leticia by the Sea, a resort in Samal island. Lately I’ve been going to the beach a lot and it’s such a wonderful feeling to be out there in the sun, feeling the sand (and occasionally seaweed) on your toes, and getting seriously splashed or washed out by big waves. I’m always grateful for days at the beach. It makes me realize how much I’ve been missing spending all those days being lazy at home or stressed at work. Days like these are forever priceless. Leticia by the Sea is a hidden paradise located all the way in Talicud island – one of the most beautiful parts of Island Garden City of Samal. It is also one of the many private owned resorts with white sand beaches and turquoise waters. Getting there might take a while – an hour if I may say – but it’s worth it. I felt like I was far from Davao and that I flew to a different place to spend the last days of summer. Trust me, this resort is really just beautiful! My Leticia by the Sea photo diary starts NOW: I’m no photographer, but I hope you guys enjoyed going through my photos as much as I did taking them! For more details on Leticia By The Sea’s rates, visit their website www.leticiabythesearesort.com/ So, how was your summer? Let me know by commenting below! Love, Tori Share my post to the...

Tori’s Weekly Bucket List: Week 1/52

POTATO To make 2016 more memorable for me, I decided to make a bucket list every single week of the year. I know this may come as a challenge but I’m very much excited to look back by the end of the year and see how much I’ve accomplished! I want to make sure that the things that are written on my list are feasible and are very much attainable in a week’s time. So I’ve come to the decision that five weekly activities or tasks should be enough. I sure do hope I get to do all of them! So here it is. This week’s edition of my Weekly Bucket List. □ Start reading Daniel Handler’s “Why We Broke Up”. I bought this book a year ago and never really read it. I was afraid that reading it might jinx the relationship I had at that time. But turns out, not reading it was the cause. Just kidding! Anyway, I started reading it and love every single page! It’s something everyone could relate to. Because one thing I’ve learned about breakups is that they happen all the time. And it’s about how you rise from it all and turn things around. I have yet to finish the book though. And I’m beyond excited! □ Eat some smooth, melting, luscious and delicious Lindt Lindor Truffles. I’ve been craving for these truffles since Christmas! I love how the chocolate almost bursts and melts in your mouth when you pop the fragile chocolate shell. It’s complete magic and love in your mouth! A box of three truffles can cost P72 to P76...

Grateful

POTATO A week ago, we had our Diamonds and Denim themed Christmas Party. I can very well say that it was a jam-packed party. From raffle prizes, to performances to food and awards – it was definitely a good kind of stressful, and downright memorable night! For our Christmas party, there were two important contests that we were part of: the talent showcase and the Christmas Lantern – making contest. We may not have won in the talent showcase, but we surely left the audience some hiphop vibes that night. We were all very proud of our dance number! The Christmas lantern on the other hand, which we made out of recycled materials, earned itself a spot in the top three. We won second place and it wasn’t that bad at all considering how everything was done on the last minute! Talk about spur of the moment ideas that indeed turned into magic! Here are some photos of the lantern we made and more: Sharing to you these beautiful and fun-filled moments, which remind me that Christmas isn’t about what you receive. It’s about being grateful for what you have. In my previous blog post, I mentioned how this is my third Christmas in the company I work for and I have nothing but gratitude for everything I’ve experienced for the last two and a half years. I have nothing but love for the people who I grew with, laughed with, shared stressful moments and happy moments with. Let us all be humbled and grateful not only this Christmas season, but every single beautiful day! Just wanted to pass on...

Love ko ‘to | Party in the U.S.A.

POTATO Okay, the answer is, no. McDonald’s wasn’t crazy enough to call me and ask me to be their new spokesperson or model for their variety of McFloats. This day just happened to be a sunny day spent with friends who were as bored as me. But just look at how productive this day went after all! My favorite photographer Iresha Generalao, my favorite layout/graphic artist Jennifer Corda and my best friend/sister in the whole world Beatrice Ong decided to drop by at my house and make summer on our street look like summer at some California beach! Or so we think. But we were close enough, weren’t we? Nahh. But what the heck? Check out this next photo! It’s my pretty girl Jenny! 😉 And look at who decided to play with my little doggie Mongo! Hello there Reshie and Bea! I completely had no idea what I was going to wear for the shoot. But as soon as Beatrice arrived at my house, I knew. She was wearing the exact same U.S.A. cropped flag top that was in my closet! Well, it was just in my closet but it was my sister’s (Yes, again!). So yeah, we thought it would be fun wearing the same top for the shoot. And fun it was! Plus, Iresha was so brilliant at capturing our favorite moments. I love you Reshie! I loved how that day turned out to be a typical friends-day-hang-out type of thing. And what’s the best typical snack for a typical friends-day-hang-out? McDonald’s! Yes? We ordered McDonald’s online and all the food just made our day even better! I ordered...

Day Two – Summer at Eden

POTATO Hello to day two at Eden Nature Park and Resort! Because we weren’t able to go swimming when we arrived the other day like we planned, a dip in Eden’s cold spring water swimming pool was the first thing on our list after breakfast that morning. While waiting for our food to be served, we took a little detour to the playground and tried our very best to mingle with the one peacock that was there, and the numerous peahens he was trying to impress. But because we weren’t Mr. Peacock’s type, and because it was kind of clear that it wasn’t us he wanted to mingle with, we thought it best to take a step away from him and have fun on our own. Sorry for disturbing you Mr. Peacock! After being our 8-year-old selves at the playground, it was finally time for breakfast! I ate some papaya before proceeding with the eggs and corned beef. I found it unusual that the papaya was topped with calamansi or lemon. So I didn’t eat it with the lemon. It was only after breakfast that I decided to try it. And it was the best part of breakfast indeed! It added a more pleasurable flavour to the papaya. I’m sorry for being so ignorant about this but it made me really happy! Finally, finishing our meals, it was time to hit the pool and boy was it pretty! And cold too! We were like at the highest point of the resort. If you were there and didn’t feel the cold just even one bit, then you’re probably not human! Lol....
