I Carry Your Heart

POTATO Since Valentine’s Day is just a few days away, I wanted to share to all of you my favorite poem. And of course it’s about love! I wasn’t able to make a blog post for my week 5/52 bucket list because sadly, all my plans didnt work out and I wasn’t able to accomplish anything. I guess sometimes plans just don’t materialize the moment you want them to. Maybe it’s true that things just fall into place when you least expect it, in the right time. I’m crossing my fingers that week 6/52 will work out perfectly for me! Anyway, going back to the heart of this post, let me share to you my favorite poem by E.E. Cummings.  I can hardly remember where I first read it, but I can tell you that I really loved it the moment I discovered it because Cummings’ described how it is to love someone in the sweetest and the most enriching way anyone can. I included short interpretations of every line and I hope by the end of this post, you get inspired to celebrate love with the people you love! Enjoy! I carry your heart with me I carry it in my heart I am never without it I believe the first three lines expresses how much this person loves his lover. It expresses how deep his feelings are to the point that it is said like a promise. When we love someone, we always want to assure them how much they mean to us. “I carry your heart with me, I carry it in my heart” is like saying...

Going Monochromatic

POTATO After attending the Scandi-Lous event a week ago, I’ve decided to incorporate what I’ve learned and dress like a Scandinavian every single chance I can! And why wouldn’t I? It’s the most comfortable and simple way to express oneself without ever falling short of being fashionable. To kick things off, I went with a Scandi/monochromatic look, which simply is just jogger pants, a muscle tee and a sling bag of the similar hue. Monochromatic looks aren’t limited to black and white pieces. As long as they’re of the similar color or shade, you are definitely in that zone. But with all honesty, the best monochromatic looks in my opinion are of the neutral shades namely black, white, gray and beige. You won’t go wrong with them! They might be simple, but with the right pieces, they’re complete head-turners and even life-savers! You may ask why I call the above mentioned neutral shades life-savers? Well, they’re the easiest pieces to shop for especially when you’re on a budget. You can also use them over and over again and style them differently. Like these black jogger pants I got at the Surplus Shop for only Php195. I can wear them joggers with a gray tee, a sheer white top or even a black one! I can also opt for different types of footwear like (I linked each one by the way), black sneakers or running shoes, strappy sandals or strapped heels like the one I’m wearing from Payless PH! Tori’s Weekly Bucket List: Week 4/52

POTATO Before week 4 of 52 officially ends, let me share to you the 4 tasks I completed this week. I usually make a list of 5 tasks to accomplish per week but for some unknown reason, 4 activities were just right. My weekly bucket list always consists of simple activities that I don’t normally do on a daily basis. It’s always going to have food trips involved in restaurants I haven’t dined in ever or haven’t dined in in a while, meeting up with friends I haven’t seen in a very long time or friends I haven’t met yet to begin with. The bottom line is, as I say every single week, the simple, feasible yet fun and fulfilling activities are what makes up my weekly bucket lists. So here goes my dears! #1: Meet Up With Triple Trouble It’s very funny how my blogger friends Emjay, Yellie and I came up with “Triple Trouble”. It all started in the Laureen Uy event last week. It was also the very first time I met Emjay. Isn’t that just the coolest? When you meet someone for the very first time and you guys immediately click? That’s exactly what happened with Emjay and I. On the other hand, Yellie and I, we’ve known each other for a very long time. We were friends since third grade! And now we’re all blogging together and conquering our blogging dreams together. It’s the most exciting thing! So last Friday, we decided to meet again with our former schoolmates for this project we’re working on. We met in this really artsy and cutesy cafe called...

Scandi-Lous: A Fashion Mixer At Abreeza Mall

POTATO Last Sunday, January 24, 2016, I had another sneak peek of 2016’s fashion trends and a closer look at Scandinavian Style at Scandi-Lous: A Fashion Mixer courtesy of the most sought after brands in Abreeza Mall, namely Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, GAP, Mango, Marks & Spencer, and Promod. It was another exciting day for me as I was going to the event with my blogger friend Yellie of theyellowtrail.com and was totally looking forward to seeing the trends together with other bloggers and designers. Above Photo Courtesy of Abreeza Mall Welcoming us to the event was a basketful of tokens inspired by Pantone Color Institute’s Colors of the year 2016, Rose Quartz and Serenity and also creations from Davao’s elite designers: Andi Amora, Aztec Barba, Bamba Limon, Benjie Panizales, Dodjie Batu, Edgar Buyan, Egay Ayag, Emi Englis, Junie Artajo, Lala Luz, Lauren Arriola, Tzardy Tombo, Windell Mira, and Xioti Chiu.  The softness of Rose Quartz and the calmness of Serenity was such a wonderful way to open this month’s Fashion Mixer at Abreeza Mall. There was also a mini fashion show with the models wearing the above mentioned brands. Among my favorite looks were the striped number from Mango, the hippie-boho outfit from Promod, and the denim and maxi dress combination from GAP. Above Photos Courtesy of Abreeza Mall Just when we thought the event couldn’t get any better than it already was, we all had the privilege to meet L’Officiel Manila’s editor-in-chief, Pam Quinones and Fashion Consultant to L’Officiel Manila, Philippa Andren. After the mini fashion show, Pam and Philippa shared with us their insights on Pantone’s colors of...

#StyleGuide With Laureen Uy

POTATO It’s a custom in January that we all look forward to what’s in and new, like in events, the newest adventures to take on in the city, the newest restaurants, the upcoming films we’ve all been waiting for since last year, and we’d also love to find out, especially the ladies, about the most fabulous style and fashion trends that are going to make its way in our wardrobe this year. (Well hopefully, with all of our fingers and toes crossed!) With all of that given, wouldn’t it be extra wonderful to learn about these things from one of the Philippines’ top bloggers and style influencers? (I know ‘influencers’ might not even be a word but it sort of works so anyway..) And I’d love to share to you how lucky I was to be able to experience just that at Laureen Uy’s #StyleGuide at SM Lanang Premier last Saturday. I went to the event with my blogger friends Yellie of theyellowtrail.com and Emjay of everydayemjay.com. We call ourselves #tripletrouble. (Anyway, that’s a different story.) We were all equally excited to meet Laureen and hear what she has to say. She styled all the models that day and here’s a glimpse of 2016’s fashion trends that will be on every window of every store and hopefully in our closets! 2016’s trends are mostly focused on the relaxed and comfortable side of fashion yet with the assurance that it’s still every bit of fabulous. It’s all in the detail of the fabrics and the pieces. Laureen recommended stripes, nudes/neutrals, pleated skirts and comfy cardigans, a little hippie-boho here and there,...

Tori’s Weekly Bucket List: 3/52

POTATO I usually post my weekly bucket list stories when it’s Sunday, when everyone’s at a certain peaceful pause. For some reason, I seem to think that everyone would be able to have the time to read my simple weekly activities because it’s Sunday! It’s everyone’s rest day! Well, almost that is! It’s that wonderful time when people sit down with their friends and families and relax, hang out or talk about everything (which I sort of wish includes my stories and blog posts). So why did I miss posting this weekly bucket list story you may ask? Well, it was one busy fashion weekend for me! Which will be in a different story and blog post that I can’t wait to share! Anyway, here’s week 3/52 for you! #1: Eat Calamansi Cheesecake at Starbucks. When I first saw @StarbucksPH‘s Instagram post about their new Calamansi Cheesecake, I was so thrilled! I’m all about kumquats and cheesecakes! I love the sour and refreshing taste of fresh calamansi and always order it and look for it in almost every restaurant I dine in. Like, seriously! And cheesecake? Well, it’s cheesecake. They’re heaven in a bite. Need I say more? And to have both calamansi and cheesecake in one undeniably delicious bite just somehow means the world to me! Have you tried it? If you haven’t, I tell you, you should! #2: Meet Up With Nitish With our very busy and ever conflicting schedules, my former debate/adjudicator partner and mentor and best friend Nitish and I (now that’s what you call an excessive use of “and” in one sentence! Ha!) could never find the time...
