Two Ways

POTATO My, my.. how we have a lot of catching up to do! I haven’t been entirely consistent with blogging, which I promised I would do at least 3 to 4 times a month, due to other priorities. But I really hope I get to do this more often. I miss sharing my looks and just writing in general! No matter, I shall squeeze in an entry as much as I can! I have so much backlog just waiting to be shared. For the past three months that I haven’t been blogging, I have been to Cebu City and to so many parties and beaches every weekend! But before I share all of that, let me, for the meantime, show you how to wear a very basic outfit in two ways. I’m a working girl and I ain’t getting any younger! Being in your mid-twenties is a constant struggle to stay young and mature at the same time. This struggle also applies with one’s personal style. It’s like, as you get older, you second guess all your previous wardrobe choices and you ask yourself if it’s still “okay” to wear your favorites today. But it’s a good thing basics are here to stay! You can always transform a plain grey shirt and a plain black pencil skirt to whatever look you want to achieve! I only styled this look in two ways: Smart/Sophisticated Casual and Sporty Chic. But I believe there are infinite ways to change it up. Look #1: Smart/Sophisticated Casual I just threw in a few of my favorite gold accessories, wore these black ankle strap heels and...

Not So Basic

POTATO There’s really nothing much I can say about this #OOTD other than it was the easiest thing to wear on a lazy Sunday afternoon. A basic shirt dress is every girl’s best friend especially in moments when your sister wakes you up from that sweet afternoon nap of yours and invites you to go to the mall with her. And who are you to say no? Still a little dazed from my afternoon dreams, I got my sleepy ass off of my bed and rushed to get this basic shirt dress. Surprisingly, the outfit I put together didn’t turn out to be the most basic of them all! Hope you guys like it! Sparkle

POTATO The best way to welcome the month of August is with a lot of sparkle. And I found a way to do just that with this silver cut-out, bodycon dress from People are People. I finally had the chance to wear this beauty in our disco-themed midyear party at work. It was the perfect piece to be in to dance the night away! I was so excited for this party because not only did I have the perfect dress for it, but also because I have the perfect hair for the theme! I had my used-to-be bob haircut permed a month ago and I have no regrets whatsoever! Looking at my previous blog posts, it’s funny how I easily change hairstyles. I could have more than two hairstyles in a year! I had a pixie cut with bangs back in December 2015, had a short bob which eventually became a longer bob until I decided to have it permed. My hair just grows really fast which kind of changes my mood about it. But I really love my 80s inspired curly hair now because I dont have to do much. I can also style it differently. In this case, i teased it a little bit to acheive big and unruly curls. Anyway, enough hair talk and back to this #OOTD. So, I chose to style this one-of-a-kind dress with silver accessories and with these black, transparent-heeled strappy sandals. I absolutely loved walking in these babies! It was undoubtedly a fun night. Wondering when I’ll be able to dress up like this again. Hope you guys liked this look! By...

Summer Hangover

POTATO The month of June has ended but not the rainy season. And yet here I am still filling up my blog with summer #OOTDs and summer photographs. It most certainly cannot be helped considering we live in a tropical country! No matter how long the rainy season drags on, the beautiful beaches will still remain and the sandy shores of Samal Island will always be a place to be reckoned with! For this summer #OOTD, I wanted to show you guys another way to dress the part. Maxi skirts and dresses, shorts, rompers, palazzo or harem pants are some of our most loved pieces when we’re out by the pool or the beach. But who says denim on denim looks can’t have their time in the sun too? This chambray skirt from Forever 21 was the perfect match for a denim jacket. I threw in some of the usual summer colors: a floral blue bikini that I used as a cropped top and white strapped sandals for a really cool tropical effect. I also wore my favourite navy blue cap and brought this colourful Vera Bradley sling bag with me for a pop of personality! And if I may say so, the Vera Bradley sling bag is really one of the best sling bags that exist in this world! I mean, it’s really small but the compartments of this bag are so well-thought of and were really put in the right places. I can fit so much stuff in it including my summer essentials like my sunglasses and sunscreen! I really enjoyed my time in the sun with this #OOTD. Sometimes the...

Pineapples and Palm Trees

POTATO  Before temporarily saying good bye to Dahican, I asked my cousin to take photos of my #OOTD. I had thought about having them taken underneath the palm trees where the light was bright which created a shadowy effect. While I was doing my thing and posing I couldn’t help but sing Katy Perry’s “California Girls” in my head. The lyrics “sippin’ gin and juice, laying underneath the palm trees” were seriously meaningful to me in that moment! And with the tropical vibe of my outfit, it could not be helped! This pineapple-printed crop top is yet another addition to my growing crop top collection! I knew I had to bring it with me for the weekend in Mati and it certainly did its work. If there’s one thing I could never give up, that would be wearing crop tops. And I hope I get to wear them for the rest of my life without being judged, well, which is highly impossible. Guess I’ll just have to enjoy being able to wear it while I can! To achieve the tropical vibe of this outfit, I decided to pair my pineapple crop top with my beloved green harem pants which I’ve had since college! I’m not quite sure as to what shade of green this is but I know that it’s definitely a piece I’ll forever keep (if I don’t wear them out of course). They’re ultimately comfortable too which is a must when you’re going on a 4-hour road trip back to Davao. To finish the look off and to add to the comfort, I wore my white sneakers. Tropical Kanakbai

POTATO Every once in a while it’s good to take some time off from our busy routines and spend time with our loved ones. It’s seriously time to enjoy the beach and to put on those summer outfits! And this summer, my family or “the women of my life” (because my family really is all about women more than men) and I decided to spend our summer in Dahican, Mati Davao Oriental. Of the many beautiful resorts or houses to choose from in Dahican, we decided to stay in Tropical Kanakbai because of the peaceful and bohemian vibe of the resort. It’s what our all-girl getaway deserves and more! My aunt was able to stay here previously and said it was an ideal place for a big group or a family. It’s just approximately 9 minutes away from Subangan Provincial Museum (our previous destination) or 5.5 kilometers away. Excitement was building up as we were nearing the resort and when we arrived, it surely did not disappoint. It totally nailed “peaceful” and “bohemian” if you ask me! I learned that “Kanakbai” means “My Home” in Mandaya and it definitely felt like home. And how can you not live here? The amenities in the villas are complete, from a dining area, to a kitchen and living room area that just exudes comfort, elegance and a homey vibe. Kanakbai is so beautiful that I couldn’t help but take photos of even the tiniest details in the resort!
