Tea Time With Charlie

POTATO I fully understand that I missed #ThrowbackThursday and #FlashbackFriday, but let me go ahead and share one of those incredible moments in life (which happened to me months ago) when you’re set to meet someone for the very first time. So a friend of mine from college messaged me, and asked if I wanted to do a shoot because a friend of his, who was a photographer in Manila was coming to Davao and was looking for someone to shoot (well not literally!). He was going to cover for an event here but wanted to do a little fun shoot after work. And by “a little”, I really mean little! Because it was the shortest photoshoot I’ve ever done, like ever! I was going to get off from work late that afternoon and Charlie, the friend I haven’t met yet, had a flight to catch some time that evening. Talk about a real time constraint! We only had about an hour or two to get to know each other and have the photo shoot at the same time! Anyway, we agreed to do the shoot at Alley Cat Tea House and I arrived earlier than Charlie. It felt kind of awkward to wait for someone I didn’t know. But the moment he arrived, it didn’t feel awkard at all. For one, I was overwhelmed with the excitement to do a photoshoot, for another, Charlie had this really genuine and friendly vibe about him that made me feel really comfortable. Plus, we had a common friend, Noy, whom, in the first place, connected us and who was sort of our...

Laced and Tasseled

POTATO Lace has always been associated with timeless elegance and it gives that lady-like aura to any woman who wears it. But the moment you put lace and tassels together in one crop top, it creates that very bohemian but still elegant kind of look. Which is why, when I saw this top, I immediately knew what I was going to pair it with. When I think about bohemian looks, a lot of images pop into my head, like fringe, tassels, aztec prints, braided details and everything else that seems carefree yet stylish at the same time. But for this look, I was going for a mix of boho and something that’s a little bit prim and proper. It’s been a while since I last wore this red, aztec printed pencil skirt and I’m so happy that my imagination was right about pairing both of these pieces together! To finish the look off, I wore my favorite gold accessories and metallic champagne sandals. If you were wondering where I got this top, it was from the recent Kadayawan bazaar. And it’s only worth Php280! Talk about another awesome #torisaysfinds. Like Red Wine

POTATO Just a couple of days ago, we officially greeted September one big, “HELLO!” (Yes, it needs to be all caps for extra emphasis. Lol. Anyway..) I know it’s only September and we’re still four months away from the most wonderful time of the year. But who doesn’t get a little bit excited knowing that the first BER month has finally come and few days from now streets will be filled with Christmas lights, shopping malls will be setting up their signature Christmas trees and of course, Christmas tunes will be heard all over the radio! Before we even know it, we’ll all start attending Christmas parties. I don’t want to be too advanced here, but this sort of means dressing up and bringing on those holiday looks, like this one! I believe you already know why I gave this post the title “Like Red Wine” because of this really beautiful red wine colored midi skirt! This is the last of the “skirt series” shoot I did with my friend Paolo. And this look I put together really gives me the holiday feels. Probably because of the shade of red the skirt has, the gold details from the accessories and of course, the lace! This also serves as a #throwback post for my “longer” hair. I loved this short bob so much. (Talk about being ironic.) But I love my current hair even more! I’m really very excited for the holidays to come. And it’s not just because I get to dress up. It’s because indeed *cue in music please* “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” Photographed by...

On a Holiday

POTATO When there are upcoming holidays, we all usually grab hold of our calendars, talk with our families or group of friends and plan the best long weekend/holiday getaway. But there are those moments when we don’t feel like going out,  moments when we just want to chill, and moments when the best getaway is spending time at home. Whether we’re just too lazy to get up and go, or too conscious about spending too much money. Nothing ever beats a holiday staycation at home. Home is that one place where you can be goofy and no one would care! Sure, it could get really boring sometimes, but as we all know, it’s the simple things that really count. Like, number 1: a very comfortable sofa. Who doesn’t love to lounge around all day? You could be listening to music, reading a book, watching tv, eating your favorite snack, or sipping some good coffee. Which brings me to the second simple thing that also counts (well, to me that is): sipping some good coffee. There’s always that spot at home that has always been yours and no one could ever take it away from you. It may be your bed, your study table or your seat in the dining table and that’s number three on this list I’m making up: getting a very well deserved quality time with yourself after long days of work. It was fun shooting this story with my favorite photographer, Resh! How about you? What do you love to do on your holiday staycations? Photos by Iresha Generalao Love, Tori Share my post to the...

Plain White Tees

POTATO Just when you thought that this was yet another lady-like themed outfit post, think again! When you’re out running errands, it’s better to wear something simple, light and comfortable. Something that would make it easier for you to move around, walk around, especially when the moving around and walking around involves your pet dog! It was seriously time to take my adorable maltese, Mongo, out for a groom. And that seriously meant wearing a plain white tee, shorts and slip on sneakers. While I was waiting for Mongo to finish “getting his sexy on” at his favorite pamper place (which is another story and another blog post), I kept myself busy by having my outfit shots taken. A girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do! I don’t have a lot of t-shirts in my closet. And the very few ones that I have are all plain white! Talk about being on the safe side! But really, if you set your mind into dressing up, there’s so many things and so many outfits you could put together with just one white shirt. Like this one! Since, it was “Pamper Your Pooch Day” yesterday, my sneaker vibe was on too. To me, it kind of seems better to walk your dog wearing sneakers than flats or sandals. Because if you accidentally let go of your dog, you know you’d be able to run and catch up with him faster in sneakers! And these babies have been around for a while now. I’ve had these slip on sneakers since high school! They were a little big on me back...
